Meaning of Koi

Koi are often connected with perseverance. They keep moving, even against the current, holding steady through resistance.

They also represent determination. There’s a clear sense of direction in how they move, continuing forward with focus.

They reflect transformation. Challenges turn into opportunity.

  • The Story Behind the Design

When I was working on this horse, it lined up with the start of the Year of the Horse in the Chinese zodiac.

A new year gets called a fresh start, but it doesn’t really feel new until something moves. Without action, it still feels like the same place.

To me, the horse represents that moment right after a decision is made. The shift from thinking into motion. Once it starts, momentum builds. One step leads to the next, and direction forms through movement.

As I worked on this piece, I kept thinking about taking action. Choosing a direction, trusting it, and moving with it.

I added the confetti because that’s what it felt like. Starting changes things. Even a small step counts.

This piece holds that energy. Beginning, acting, and letting that motion carry you forward.

  • Did You Know?

Horses can sleep both lying down and standing up. Their legs are designed to lock in place, allowing them to rest while staying ready to move at any moment.

A horse’s heart is one of the largest of any land animal, often weighing around 9 to 10 pounds. It supports their strength and ability to carry power through sustained movement.

Horses also have nearly 360-degree vision. This wide field of view allows them to stay aware of their surroundings while continuing forward with direction.

  • Wisdom From The Horse

The horse carries the energy of forward motion. Momentum builds through action. Each step creates the next, and progress comes from staying in motion.

There is a clear sense of direction. Movement follows intention. When a path is chosen, focus stays with it.

Action lives in how that movement is carried. It shows through doing, through stepping forward, and turning intention into something real.

This is what the horse reflects. Moving forward with clarity, holding direction, and taking action with purpose.
